About CPL Program Measurement

The Strategic Learning Alliance has created a certification process built around simulated-applied experiences, testing, and learning-based reflection. To this end, all certifications including the CPL are measured through the SLA as a third party credentialing agency.
This process includes:

  1. Completing a three day leadership & learning seminar
  2. Completing four weeks of online follow-up applied case study activities and learning
  3. Completing an 8 hour webinar on disciplines of effectiveness & consultative leadership
  4. Completing a 4-8 week applied practicum

Tested content covers: essentials of human resources, negotiation, coaching, individual leadership, team leadership, strategic thinking and critical thinking. You must achieve above a 90% raw score based on applied measures set by the Peak Institute of Applied Learning.

You will deliver an executive presentation that demonstrates your ability to lead a team through the process of articulating a strategic plan, identifying tactical issues, and effectively reporting your findings.

You will also complete a personal and applied portfolio that demonstrates your ability to engage others, help them clarify their leadership potential and development needs, as well as reflect on and report your personal leadership & learning plan for your continued professional development.

This experience can be completed in as little as 8 weeks, but is recommended to culminate in a 12 week process. Those requiring additional training per the eligibility requirements should plan on six to nine months to earn this credential.
